National Information

Since the publication of the Code of Public Contracts (Decree Law 18/2008, 29th of January), there has been a successful effort in the introduction of Public E-procurement in Portugal, namely in the eTendering and ePublication areas.

The long term objective is to cover the entire public procurement value chain, by way of interconnected processes that will drive the procurement process in an end (eNotification) to end (ePayment) perspective.

The primary reason for Portugal to join PEPPOL was to provide its contribution for the establishment of an EU-wide accepted eCatalogue format, using the resulting building blocks to adapt its own National Catalogue and to pave the way for general national adoption.
